Ampicillin Sodium

A semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria.

Cloxacillin Sodium

A semi-synthetic penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic primarily effective against gram-positive bacteria, especially staphylococcus aureus.

Treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including skin and soft tissue infections.

Treatment of respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis) caused by susceptible bacteria.

Treatment of bone and joint infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Treatment of septicemia (bloodstream infection) caused by susceptible bacteria.

Ampicillin and cloxacillin both inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This disruption prevents the formation of peptidoglycan, a crucial component of the bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. Cloxacillin's resistance to penicillinase (beta-lactamase) makes it effective against bacteria that produce this enzyme, which inactivates many penicillins.

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if the seal is broken or the medicine shows signs of deterioration.

The medication is typically administered orally, following the doctor's prescribed schedule.

Complete the entire course of medication, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence of infection.
