Ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic estrogen hormone.

Drospirenone is a synthetic progestin hormone.

Contraception (prevention of pregnancy)

Treatment of severe acne in women who have not responded to other therapies

Regulation of menstrual cycles

Relief from menstrual cramps

Ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone work together to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Drospirenone also has anti-androgenic properties, which may contribute to its effectiveness in treating acne.

Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight.

Take one tablet daily, at approximately the same time each day, with or without food.

Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

Increased risk of blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke)

Headache

Nausea

Breast tenderness

Weight gain

Mood swings

Decreased libido

Spotting or breakthrough bleeding

Increased risk of heart attack

High blood pressure

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate alcohol consumption may be safe, but excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is highly likely to harm the fetus or infant.



Children

This medication is not intended for use in children.



Kidney

Patients with kidney disease may need dose adjustments.



Liver

Patients with liver disease may need dose adjustments.
