Isotretinoin

Is the active ingredient in medications used to treat severe acne.

Severe nodular acne (acne that is resistant to other treatments)

Acne conglobata (a severe form of acne with deep, interconnected nodules and cysts)

Acne that is causing significant scarring

Xtrion 20mg Capsule (Isotretinoin) reduces sebum (oil) production in the skin, decreases the size of sebaceous glands, and has anti-inflammatory effects. This helps to prevent the formation of acne lesions.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage is determined by a physician and varies depending on the severity of acne and patient response.

It is typically taken once or twice daily with food.

Treatment courses usually last several months.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption should be limited or avoided during isotretinoin treatment due to potential liver effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Isotretinoin may cause drowsiness or blurred vision in some individuals. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Isotretinoin is highly teratogenic (causes birth defects). It is absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding women. Reliable contraception is mandatory.



Children

Use in children should only be considered under strict medical supervision and when other treatments have failed.



Kidney

Patients with impaired kidney function may require dose adjustment. This is determined by the treating physician.



Liver

Patients with pre-existing liver disease should use caution. Liver function tests are typically monitored during treatment.
