Treatment of hyperuricemia associated with gout in adults refractory to xanthine oxidase inhibitor therapy or who experienced intolerable side effects.

Reduction in serum uric acid levels in patients with gout.

Xanurix 80mg Tab (Febuxostat) is a non-purine selective inhibitor of xanthine oxidase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. By inhibiting xanthine oxidase, febuxostat reduces the production of uric acid, leading to lower serum uric acid levels.

Store at room temperature (20°C to 25°C), protect from moisture, and keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.

The usual starting dose is 40 mg once daily.

The dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily if needed, based on the physician's assessment of the patient's uric acid levels and response to treatment.

Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate alcohol consumption may be permitted, but excessive alcohol use should be avoided as it can increase the risk of gout flares.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Febuxostat may cause dizziness or fatigue. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing these side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Febuxostat is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor.



Children

Febuxostat is not recommended for children.



Kidney

Dosage adjustment may be necessary for patients with impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor.



Liver

Regular liver function monitoring is recommended, especially during initial treatment, as febuxostat can affect liver function. Avoid use in those with severe liver disease.
