Atorvastatin

Calcium is the active ingredient in most atorvastatin formulations. the specific inactive ingredients vary depending on the brand and formulation (tablet, capsule etc.), so always check the product label.

Lowering high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and other fats (lipids) in the blood.

Welltor 40mg Tab (Atorvastatin) is a statin medication that works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of cholesterol in the liver. By reducing cholesterol production in the liver, atorvastatin lowers the overall level of LDL ('bad') cholesterol in the blood, while also increasing HDL ('good') cholesterol levels.

Store Atorvastatin at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children. Do not use the medication if it's expired or shows any signs of discoloration or damage.

Dosage is determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

It's typically taken once daily, with or without food.

Do not crush, chew, or break extended-release tablets. Swallow them whole.

Muscle aches and pains (myalgia)

Alcohol Consumption

Moderate alcohol consumption may be acceptable, but excessive alcohol use should be avoided as it can increase the risk of liver damage.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Atorvastatin generally does not impair driving or operating machinery, but drowsiness or dizziness are possible side effects, so caution is advised if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Atorvastatin should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential harm to the fetus or infant. Consult your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or plan to breastfeed while taking this medication.



Children

Use in children is determined on a case-by-case basis by a physician and is not routinely used.



Kidney

Atorvastatin is generally well-tolerated by individuals with kidney problems, but dosage adjustments may be needed in cases of severe kidney disease.



Liver

Liver function tests should be performed before starting and periodically during Atorvastatin therapy, particularly in patients with pre-existing liver disease. Discontinue use if signs of liver damage are present.
