Ritonavir

A protease inhibitor used as a 'booster' to increase the blood levels and effectiveness of darunavir.

Treatment of HIV1 infection in adults and children (over 6 months old, meeting specific weight requirements).

May be used in combination with other antiretroviral medications as part of a complete HIV treatment regimen.

Darunavir inhibits HIV-1 protease, an enzyme essential for the maturation of new viral particles. Ritonavir boosts darunavir's concentration in the body, enhancing its antiviral effect. This combined action effectively reduces the viral load and improves the CD4+ T-cell count.

Store at controlled room temperature (20-25°C). Protect from moisture. Dispose of unused medication properly as per local guidelines.

Dosage varies depending on patient factors and other medications being taken. Always follow your doctor's prescription and instructions precisely.

Generally taken once or twice daily, usually with food, to improve absorption.

Missed doses should be taken as soon as remembered unless close to the next dose. Do not double the dose.
