Vilaxel 20 Tablet (Vilazodone) works by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in regulating mood, sleep, appetite, and other functions. By increasing serotonin levels, vilazodone helps to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression.
Store vilazodone at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), in a tightly closed container. Protect it from light and moisture.
The usual starting dose of vilazodone is 20 mg once daily.
Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your response to treatment.
Vilazodone is typically taken with food.
It's important to take vilazodone exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Serious side effects are rare but can occur. If you experience any of the following, stop taking vilazodone and contact your doctor immediately: suicidal thoughts or actions, seizures, serotonin syndrome (a potentially life-threatening condition), bleeding in the stomach or intestines, allergic reactions, low blood sodium (hyponatremia).
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, headache, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, and insomnia.
Avoid or limit alcohol consumption while taking vilazodone, as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Vilazodone may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
