Isosorbide Mononitrate

Is the active ingredient.

Prevention of angina (chest pain) episodes in patients with coronary artery disease.

Treatment of chronic stable angina.

Vasotrate 10mg Tab (Isosorbide Mononitrate) is a long-acting nitrate. It works by relaxing blood vessels, which reduces the workload on the heart and improves blood flow to the heart muscle. This leads to decreased oxygen demand and reduced angina episodes.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.

Dosage should be determined by a physician and individualized based on the patient's condition and response to treatment.

Follow the prescribed dosage and administration instructions carefully.

Do not abruptly stop taking isosorbide mononitrate without consulting your doctor; this can lead to rebound angina.

Typically, isosorbide mononitrate is taken once or twice daily.

Headache (common, often subsides with continued use)

Lightheadedness

Flushing

Nausea

Hypotension (low blood pressure)

Allergic reactions (rare)

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may enhance the hypotensive effects of isosorbide mononitrate. Limit alcohol consumption or avoid it altogether while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Isosorbide mononitrate can cause dizziness and lightheadedness, potentially affecting driving ability and operation of machinery. Avoid these activities if experiencing these side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be considered if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks. Consult your doctor.



Children

Safety and efficacy in children have not been established. Not typically prescribed for children.



Kidney

Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with impaired kidney function. Your doctor will assess this.



Liver

Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with impaired liver function. Your doctor will assess this.
