Amoxicillin

A penicillin-type antibiotic that fights against bacteria.

Treatment of bacterial infections of the middle ear (otitis media), sinuses (sinusitis), lungs (pneumonia), skin, and urinary tract.

Treatment of certain types of dental infections.

Treatment of infections caused by bacteria resistant to amoxicillin alone.

Amoxicillin interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from inactivation by bacterial beta-lactamases, enzymes that break down penicillin-type antibiotics. This combination makes the drug effective against a wider range of bacteria.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the medication out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the label.

Dosage will vary depending on the patient's age, weight, and the severity of the infection.

The medication should be administered with food or a snack to improve absorption.

Complete the entire course of medication, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence of the infection.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose.

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Amoxicillin/clavulanate may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if the benefits outweigh the risks. However, this should be discussed with your doctor or healthcare provider.



Children

Dosage should be adjusted based on the child's weight and age. Always follow the instructions provided by your doctor.



Kidney

Reduced dosage may be necessary in individuals with impaired kidney function.



Liver

Reduced dosage may be necessary in individuals with impaired liver function.
