Diazepam

A benzodiazepine that acts as a central nervous system depressant.

Imipramine

A tricyclic antidepressant (tca) that affects neurotransmitters in the brain.

Treatment of severe anxiety disorders when other treatments have failed or are insufficient.

Treatment of certain types of depression, particularly those with prominent anxiety or panic symptoms, in situations where both anxiolytic and antidepressant effects are deemed necessary by a psychiatrist. This is NOT a typical firstline treatment for depression.

Diazepam enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that reduces neuronal excitability, leading to anxiolytic and sedative effects. Imipramine increases the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, neurotransmitters involved in mood regulation and reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. The combination aims to provide both immediate anxiety relief (diazepam) and longer-term mood elevation (imipramine).

Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication according to local regulations.

Dosage must be determined and strictly followed by a physician. It's highly individualized based on the patient's response and condition.

Diazepam and Imipramine are usually prescribed separately, not as a fixed-dose combination. A doctor will monitor and adjust the dose of each medication as needed.

Alcohol Consumption

Strictly avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as it can significantly enhance the sedative effects, increasing the risk of falls, accidents, and respiratory depression.



Driving or operating Machinery

Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Drowsiness and impaired coordination are common side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Diazepam and Imipramine should generally be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless the benefits significantly outweigh the risks. Consult your physician immediately.



Children

Not typically used in children. Use is only under strict medical supervision in exceptional circumstances.



Kidney

Dosage adjustments might be necessary for individuals with kidney impairment. A physician will closely monitor kidney function.



Liver

Dosage adjustments might be necessary for individuals with liver impairment. A physician will closely monitor liver function.
