Prasugrel

Prasugrel is the active ingredient in the medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called platelet aggregation inhibitors.

Prasugrel is used to prevent blood clots in patients who have had a recent heart attack or stroke.

It is also used to prevent blood clots in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with a stent.

Troyplatt 5 Tab (Prasugrel) works by blocking the action of a protein called ADP (adenosine diphosphate) in platelets. ADP is a key player in the process of blood clotting. By blocking ADP, prasugrel prevents platelets from sticking together and forming clots.

Store prasugrel at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

The dosage of prasugrel will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs.

It is typically taken once daily with or without food.

Do not crush or chew prasugrel tablets.

Bleeding is the most common side effect of prasugrel.

Other possible side effects include: headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, bruising, and shortness of breath.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of bleeding.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Prasugrel may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

It is not known if prasugrel is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor before taking prasugrel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Prasugrel is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Prasugrel may need to be adjusted for patients with kidney disease.



Liver

Prasugrel may need to be adjusted for patients with liver disease.
