Ceftriaxone

Sulbactam

A beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of ceftriaxone by bacterial enzymes, extending its effectiveness against bacteria resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics.

Treatment of various bacterial infections, including skin and skin structure infections, intraabdominal infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, and pneumonia.

Treatment of infections caused by bacteria producing betalactamases, which would otherwise render ceftriaxone ineffective.

Ceftriaxone inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Sulbactam protects ceftriaxone from inactivation by bacterial beta-lactamases, ensuring its effectiveness against a wider range of bacteria.
