Ticarcillin

A penicillin-type antibiotic that fights bacteria by preventing them from building cell walls.

Clavulanic Acid

A beta-lactamase inhibitor. beta-lactamases are enzymes produced by certain bacteria that can break down penicillin-type antibiotics, making them ineffective. clavulanic acid blocks the action of beta-lactamases, allowing ticarcillin to work effectively.

Treating severe infections caused by bacteria susceptible to ticarcillin, including:

Infections of the lungs (pneumonia)

Infections of the urinary tract

Infections of the skin and soft tissues

Infections of the abdomen

Septicemia (blood poisoning)

Meningitis (infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord).

Ticarcillin works by interfering with the formation of peptidoglycans, which are essential components of bacterial cell walls. This weakens the bacterial cell wall and ultimately leads to cell death. Clavulanic acid protects ticarcillin from being broken down by bacterial enzymes, ensuring its effectiveness against a wider range of bacteria.

Store the medication at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Dosage will be determined by your doctor based on the severity of your infection, your age, weight, and overall health.

Ticarcillin and clavulanic acid are usually given intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle).

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience these side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Children

This medication is not recommended for children unless prescribed by a doctor.



Kidney
