Themibutol 400mg Tab (Ethambutol) works by preventing the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that causes TB. It specifically inhibits the synthesis of arabinogalactan, a vital component of the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell death and preventing the spread of the infection.
Store ethambutol at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), away from light and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children.
The dosage of ethambutol will be determined by your doctor based on your age, weight, and overall health. It is typically taken once a day, with or without food.
It is crucial to follow your doctor's instructions carefully and complete the entire course of treatment, even if you start to feel better. Stopping early can lead to the development of drug-resistant TB.
Serious side effects, though less common, can include optic neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve, which can cause vision loss), liver problems, and allergic reactions.
