Telmisartan: This is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels.

Chlorthalidone: This is a thiazide diuretic. It helps your body get rid of excess salt and water by increasing urine production.

High blood pressure (hypertension)

To reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart muscle)

Telmisartan + Chlorthalidone works by: <br/> 1. Telmisartan: Blocking the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. This relaxation of blood vessels lowers blood pressure. <br/> 2. Chlorthalidone: Increasing urine production, which reduces the amount of fluid in the body and also helps lower blood pressure.

Store at room temperature, away from heat and light. Keep this medication in the original container with the cap tightly closed. Do not store in the bathroom.

The dosage of Telmisartan + Chlorthalidone is determined by your doctor and depends on your individual condition and response to treatment.

It is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of it than your doctor recommends.

Serious side effects are rare but can include: allergic reactions, angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), kidney problems, liver problems, low blood sugar, high potassium levels

Common side effects include: headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, muscle cramps, low blood pressure, low potassium levels

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects from this medication, especially low blood pressure. It is best to avoid alcohol while taking Telmisartan + Chlorthalidone.



While Driving or operating Machinery

This medication can cause dizziness, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for pregnant women. It can harm the unborn baby. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about other treatment options. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of breastfeeding while taking this medication.



Children

This medication is not recommended for children.



Kidney
