Hydrochlorothiazide

Is a thiazide diuretic, which means it helps your body get rid of excess salt and water.

Telmisartan

Is an angiotensin ii receptor blocker (arb), which helps relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

High blood pressure (hypertension)

To reduce the risk of stroke in people with high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy (thickening of the heart's main pumping chamber).

This medication works by relaxing blood vessels and decreasing the amount of fluid in your body. This lowers your blood pressure and helps reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Store this medication at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom.

Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

The usual starting dose is one tablet once daily.

Your doctor may adjust your dose based on your blood pressure and how well you respond to the medication.

This medication can be taken with or without food.

Less common side effects may include cough, diarrhea, constipation, and muscle cramps.

Serious side effects are rare but can occur. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing; chest pain; fast or irregular heartbeat; or severe dizziness.

Common side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and dry mouth.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can lower blood pressure and increase the risk of side effects. It's best to avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Discuss your options with your doctor.



Children

This medication is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

This medication can be harmful to your kidneys. If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.



Liver

This medication can be harmful to your liver. If you have liver problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
