Donepezil

A cholinesterase inhibitor that increases the levels of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory and cognitive function.

Memantine

An nmda receptor antagonist that modulates the activity of glutamate, another neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory. it helps protect against excessive glutamate activity, which can be damaging to brain cells.

Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease

Donepezil inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine, improving cholinergic neurotransmission. Memantine modulates the effects of glutamate, reducing neuronal damage caused by excessive glutamate activity. The combination therapy aims to address both cholinergic deficiency and glutamatergic excitotoxicity, common features in Alzheimer's disease.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.

Dosage should be determined by a physician and may need to be adjusted based on individual patient response and tolerance.

Typically, the medication is started at a low dose and gradually increased as tolerated.

It is usually administered orally, once daily, with or without food.

Dose adjustment may be needed for patients with severe kidney impairment. Consult your doctor.
