Hydrochloride is the active ingredient in medications containing lurasidone.
Treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
Treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults.
Tablura 80mg Tablet (Lurasidone) is an atypical antipsychotic that works by affecting multiple neurotransmitter systems in the brain, primarily dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. It's believed to improve symptoms by modulating dopamine and serotonin neurotransmission, reducing positive and negative symptoms associated with schizophrenia and bipolar depression.
Store at controlled room temperature 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) [see USP]. Protect from light and moisture.
Dosage and frequency should always be determined by a physician.
The usual starting dose is typically lower and gradually increased as tolerated.
It's usually taken orally, once daily, with food.
Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) such as Parkinsonism, dystonia and tardive dyskinesia (rare but serious)
Orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure upon standing)
Somnolence (sleepiness)
Weight gain
Akathisia (restlessness)
Nausea
Constipation
Dizziness
Sedation
Avoid alcohol consumption while taking lurasidone as it can increase the risk of drowsiness and other side effects.
Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how lurasidone affects you, as drowsiness is a common side effect.
Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Lurasidone may pose risks to the developing fetus or infant.
Lurasidone is not typically approved for use in children.
Patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor.
Patients with moderate to severe liver impairment may require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor.
