Lurasidone

Lurasidone is the active ingredient in lurasidone drug formulations.It is an atypical antipsychotic medication.Lurasidone belongs to a class of drugs called 'second-generation antipsychotics' or 'atypical antipsychotics'.

Lurasidone is primarily used to treat schizophrenia, a serious mental illness that affects a person's thinking, feeling, and behavior.

It can also be used to treat episodes of mania (elevated mood) in patients with bipolar disorder.

Tablura 40 Tablet (Lurasidone) works by affecting the levels of certain natural substances in the brain called neurotransmitters, specifically dopamine and serotonin. By modulating these neurotransmitters, it helps to improve symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Store lurasidone at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Discard any unused or expired medication properly.

The dosage of lurasidone is determined by your doctor and will depend on your individual needs and medical history.

It is typically taken once a day, with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.

Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.

Do not stop taking lurasidone suddenly without talking to your doctor, as this may worsen your condition.

Some people may experience more serious side effects such as movement problems, muscle stiffness, and difficulty swallowing.

Common side effects of lurasidone include dizziness, drowsiness, headache, constipation, dry mouth, and weight gain.

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol while taking lurasidone, as it can increase the risk of drowsiness and other side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Lurasidone can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Talk to your doctor before taking lurasidone if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Lurasidone can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks.



Children

Lurasidone is not approved for use in children under the age of 18.



Kidney
