Risperidone is the active ingredient in the medication.It is an atypical antipsychotic medication.

Sycodone 3mg Tab (Risperidone) works by blocking the activity of dopamine and serotonin, neurotransmitters in the brain. This helps to reduce symptoms of psychosis, such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking.

Store risperidone at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of risperidone varies depending on the individual patient and the condition being treated.

It is usually taken once or twice a day, with or without food.

The medication can be taken in tablet, oral solution, or injection form.

Increased prolactin levels (which can lead to breast enlargement or milk production)

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a rare but serious condition that can cause fever, muscle rigidity, and altered mental status)

Drowsiness

Headache

Dizziness

Weight gain

Extrapyramidal symptoms (muscle stiffness, tremors, restlessness)

Alcohol Consumption

Risperidone can increase the effects of alcohol. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Risperidone can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Risperidone should not be taken during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus. It is not known if risperidone passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits before taking risperidone while breastfeeding.



Children

Risperidone is not recommended for children under the age of 13, except for the treatment of irritability associated with autism.



Kidney

Kidney problems can affect how your body processes risperidone. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage if you have kidney problems.



Liver

Liver problems can also affect how your body processes risperidone. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage if you have liver problems.
