Atorvastatin

A statin medication that lowers cholesterol levels in the blood by blocking the production of cholesterol in the liver.

Cholecalciferol

A fat-soluble vitamin that helps the body absorb calcium, which is essential for strong bones and teeth.

Note: This medication is typically prescribed when lifestyle changes (diet, exercise) alone are not enough to lower cholesterol levels.

To lower high cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia) in adults and children who are at risk for heart disease.

To prevent heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events in people with existing heart disease.

To treat vitamin D deficiency.

0 Atorvastatin: It inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for cholesterol production in the liver. By blocking this enzyme, atorvastatin lowers the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (bad cholesterol) in the blood and increases the amount of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (good cholesterol).1 Cholecalciferol: Vitamin D3 is converted to its active form (calcitriol) in the body, which helps regulate calcium absorption in the intestines. Calcium is essential for strong bones and teeth, and it plays a role in muscle function, nerve function, and blood clotting.

This medication is typically taken once daily, with or without food.

Do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor first.

Serious side effects: Liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), allergic reactions, and pancreatitis.

Common side effects: Headache, muscle aches, constipation, indigestion, nausea, and diarrhea.

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking this medication may increase the risk of liver damage. Talk to your doctor about the safe consumption of alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Atorvastatin is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication while pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

This medication is not recommended for use in children under the age of 10 years.



Kidney

This medication may be less effective in people with kidney disease. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication if you have kidney disease.



Liver

This medication can cause liver damage. If you have liver disease, your doctor may monitor your liver function regularly.
