Diloxanide Furoate

An anti-amoebic drug that works by killing amoebas, the parasites that cause amoebiasis.

Treatment of amoebiasis, an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica.

Treatment of giardiasis, an intestinal infection caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia.

Diloxanide furoate acts directly on the parasite Entamoeba histolytica, killing it. Metronidazole works by interfering with the parasite's DNA, preventing it from reproducing. This combination therapy is effective against both the parasitic stages in the intestines and the cysts that are shed in the feces.

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Protect from light and moisture.

The dosage will vary depending on the age and weight of the patient and the specific condition being treated.

This medication is typically given by mouth, usually with a meal.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time.
