Spenzo Depot 40mg/2ml Inj (Flupenthixol) is a typical antipsychotic medication that works by blocking dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain. This helps to reduce the positive symptoms of psychosis, such as hallucinations and delusions, and can also improve negative symptoms such as apathy and social withdrawal. The precise mechanism by which it affects depressive symptoms is less well understood but may relate to its modulation of neurotransmitter systems.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication as per your pharmacist's or doctor's instructions.

Dosage and frequency will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

It is usually administered orally, but may also be available in other formulations.

Never change your dosage or stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) such as Parkinsonism, akathisia, dystonia

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol should be avoided or consumed in moderation as it can increase the sedative effects of flupenthixol and potentially exacerbate side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Flupenthixol can cause drowsiness and impair judgment. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Flupenthixol should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. Discuss with your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.



Children

Use in children is generally not recommended unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric psychiatrist.



Kidney

Dosage adjustment may be required for patients with impaired kidney function.



Liver

Dosage adjustment may be required for patients with impaired liver function.
