Gemcitabine

Gemcitabine is the active ingredient in this medication.It is a type of chemotherapy drug known as an antimetabolite.Gemcitabine works by interfering with the growth of cancer cells.

Gemcitabine is used to treat a variety of cancers, including:

Pancreatic cancer

Nonsmall cell lung cancer

Breast cancer

Ovarian cancer

Bladder cancer

Other solid tumors.

Shilgem 200mg Injection (Gemcitabine) is a nucleoside analog that interferes with the synthesis of DNA, which is essential for cell growth and replication. Specifically, it inhibits the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase, which is responsible for converting ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides. This process blocks the synthesis of DNA and ultimately leads to cell death. By targeting rapidly dividing cancer cells, gemcitabine effectively inhibits tumor growth.

Store gemcitabine at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Protect it from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not flush unused medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.

The dosage of gemcitabine will vary depending on your specific condition, your overall health, and other factors.

It is typically given intravenously (into a vein) over a period of 30 minutes.

Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Gemcitabine is known to harm an unborn baby. Do not take gemcitabine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.



Children

Gemcitabine is not typically used in children. Consult with your doctor for specific instructions.
