Secnidazole

Secnidazole is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of drugs called nitroimidazole anti-infectives.

Secnidazole is prescribed to treat certain bacterial infections, including:

Bacterial vaginosis (BV)

Trichomoniasis (a sexually transmitted infection)

Giardiasis (a parasitic infection of the intestines)

Amoebiasis (an infection caused by amoebas)

Some types of skin and soft tissue infections.

Sec 1gm Tab (Secnidazole) works by killing bacteria and parasites that are sensitive to it. It does this by interfering with their DNA, preventing them from multiplying and repairing themselves.

Store secnidazole at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

The dosage of secnidazole will depend on the specific infection being treated and your individual needs.

It is usually taken by mouth with a glass of water.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Do not take more or less than prescribed, and do not stop taking the medication early, even if you start feeling better.

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking secnidazole, as it can lead to serious side effects like nausea, vomiting, and flushing.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Secnidazole may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Secnidazole is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using secnidazole if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

The safety and efficacy of secnidazole in children have not been established. It should not be given to children unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.



Kidney

Secnidazole is primarily eliminated by the kidneys. If you have kidney problems, you may need a lower dose or more frequent monitoring. Consult your doctor.



Liver

Secnidazole can cause liver damage in some cases. If you have liver problems, you should use this medication with caution. Consult your doctor.
