Ethambutol

An anti-tuberculosis drug that inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acids, essential components of the mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall.

Isoniazid

Another anti-tuberculosis drug that interferes with mycolic acid synthesis and inhibits bacterial growth.

Pyridoxine

Added to counteract the peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage) that isoniazid can cause.

Rifampicin

A broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial dna-dependent rna polymerase, effectively stopping bacterial protein synthesis.

Treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB)

Treatment of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB affecting organs other than the lungs)

Part of a multidrug regimen for drug-resistant tuberculosis (in conjunction with other appropriate medications)

This combination drug works by targeting different stages of Mycobacterium tuberculosis growth and replication. Ethambutol and isoniazid interfere with mycolic acid synthesis, while rifampicin inhibits bacterial RNA polymerase. Pyridoxine mitigates the neurotoxic effects of isoniazid.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of liver damage. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Dizziness, fatigue, and visual disturbances are potential side effects. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should only be considered if the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the mother and child. Consult your doctor immediately.



Children

Dosage adjustments are usually necessary. Consult your pediatrician for the appropriate dose.



Kidney

Renal impairment may necessitate dose adjustments. Your doctor will monitor kidney function.



Liver
