Sacubitril

A neprilysin inhibitor, which blocks the breakdown of natriuretic peptides, leading to increased levels of these heart-protective hormones.

Valsartan

An angiotensin ii receptor blocker (arb), which blocks the effects of angiotensin ii, a hormone that constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure.

Treatment of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adult patients.

To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in patients with HFrEF.

Can be used alone or in combination with other heart failure medications.

Sacubitril/valsartan works by combining the effects of neprilysin inhibition and angiotensin II receptor blockade. By blocking the breakdown of natriuretic peptides and inhibiting the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II, this drug helps to reduce blood pressure, improve heart function, and decrease the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with heart failure.

Store at room temperature, 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Keep the bottle tightly closed. Protect from moisture.

The usual starting dose is 24 mg/26 mg tablet twice daily.

Dosage may be increased to 49 mg/51 mg twice daily after 2-4 weeks, based on individual patient response and tolerability.

Take this medication with a full glass of water.

Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

Take this medication at the same time each day.

High potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

Low blood pressure (hypotension)

Cough

Dizziness

Headache

Fatigue

Back pain

Muscle cramps

Angioedema (swelling under the skin)

Kidney problems

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking sacubitril/valsartan, as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Be cautious when driving or operating machinery, as this medication may cause dizziness.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Sacubitril/valsartan should not be taken during pregnancy, as it may cause harm to the fetus. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding women.



Children

This medication is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

This medication should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.



Liver

This medication should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
