Bempedoic Acid

A medication that lowers cholesterol levels by inhibiting the production of cholesterol in the liver.

Rosuvastatin

A statin medication that also lowers cholesterol levels by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is involved in cholesterol production.

High Cholesterol (Hyperlipidemia): This combination medication is used to lower levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol ('bad' cholesterol) and to increase levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ('good' cholesterol) in adults with high cholesterol who have not achieved their cholesterol goals with diet and exercise alone.

Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD): May also be used to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events (such as heart attack, stroke, or death from cardiovascular causes) in adults with ASCVD or multiple risk factors for ASCVD.

This combination medication works by inhibiting two different pathways involved in cholesterol production: Bempedoic Acid: Inhibits the enzyme ATP citrate lyase (ACL), which is a key enzyme in the production of cholesterol in the liver. Rosuvastatin: Inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis.

Store at room temperature between 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F). Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage: The usual starting dose is one tablet taken once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dosage based on your cholesterol levels and response to treatment.

Time of Administration: Can be taken with or without food.

Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Serious Side Effects: Liver problems (including liver failure), muscle damage (including rhabdomyolysis), diabetes, allergic reactions.

Common Side Effects: Muscle aches, headache, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, gas, heartburn.

Alcohol Consumption

May increase the risk of liver damage. Talk to your doctor about how much alcohol is safe for you to consume.



While Driving or operating Machinery

May cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It may harm the fetus or infant.



Children

Not recommended for use in children.



Kidney

Talk to your doctor if you have kidney problems. Dosage adjustment may be necessary.



Liver

Talk to your doctor if you have liver problems. Dosage adjustment may be necessary.
