Isoniazid

An antibiotic that fights tuberculosis (tb) bacteria.

Pyridoxine

A vitamin that helps prevent side effects of isoniazid, such as nerve damage.

Rifampicin

An antibiotic that fights tb bacteria and is effective against many resistant strains.

Treatment of active tuberculosis (TB) infection.

Prevention of TB in people who are at high risk of developing the disease.

0 Isoniazid: Inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acids, which are essential components of the cell walls of TB bacteria.1 Pyridoxine: Acts as a coenzyme in many metabolic processes and helps prevent isoniazid-induced neuropathy.2 Rifampicin: Inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing the synthesis of essential proteins for TB bacteria.

The dosage and duration of treatment will depend on the individual patient's age, weight, health condition, and severity of the infection.

The medication is usually taken once daily, with or without food.

It is important to take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not skip doses or stop taking the medication early, even if you feel better.

Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite

Headache, dizziness, fatigue

Skin rash, itching, hives

Liver damage (rare).

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of liver damage. Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

This medication can harm an unborn baby. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication during pregnancy. This medication can pass into breast milk and may harm a breastfeeding infant. Discuss the risks with your doctor before breastfeeding while taking this medication.



Children

This medication is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age.



Kidney

People with kidney problems may need a lower dose or more frequent monitoring.



Liver

This medication can cause liver damage. Your doctor may monitor your liver function with blood tests.
