Loteprednol Etabonate

Is a corticosteroid medication that belongs to the group of drugs known as topical corticosteroids.

Loteprednol etabonate is used to treat a variety of inflammatory conditions of the eye, including:

Allergic conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye)

Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids)

Keratitis (inflammation of the cornea, the clear outer layer of the eye)

Uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye)

Postoperative inflammation after eye surgery.

Rednol Eye Drops 5ml (Loteprednol Etabonate) works by reducing inflammation in the eye. It does this by suppressing the release of chemicals that cause inflammation, such as histamine and prostaglandins.

Store loteprednol etabonate eye drops at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

The dosage of loteprednol etabonate will vary depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and frequency of administration.

Generally, loteprednol etabonate is instilled into the affected eye(s) one to four times daily.

Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not exceed the prescribed dosage.

Common side effects of loteprednol etabonate include:

Burning or stinging in the eye

Eye irritation

Headache

Blurred vision

Increased intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye)

Cataracts

Glaucoma

Thinning of the cornea

Delayed wound healing.

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally safe to consume alcohol while using loteprednol etabonate eye drops. However, if you experience any unusual side effects, it is advisable to consult your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Loteprednol etabonate may cause blurred vision. Therefore, it is important to avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision clears.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

The safety of loteprednol etabonate during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before using this medication.



Children

The safety and efficacy of loteprednol etabonate in children have not been established. It should be used with caution in children.
