Insulin Glargine

Insulin glargine is a synthetic (man-made) form of human insulin.It's a long-acting insulin analog, meaning it works for a longer duration than regular insulin.

Treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults and children.

Used to control blood sugar levels in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Basugine Pen Inj (Insulin Glargine) works by mimicking the natural insulin produced by the pancreas. It helps glucose (sugar) enter cells for energy production, lowering blood sugar levels.

Store insulin glargine in the refrigerator (36-46°F/2-8°C).

Do not freeze it.

Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat.

Once opened, it can be stored at room temperature (up to 86°F/30°C) for up to 28 days.

Discard any unused insulin after 28 days.

Insulin glargine is injected under the skin (subcutaneously).

The dosage is individualized and determined by your doctor.

It is usually injected once daily, at the same time each day.

Inject it into different sites each time to prevent lipodystrophy (skin changes at the injection site).

Do not mix insulin glargine with other insulins.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar): Headache, dizziness, sweating, hunger, confusion.

Injection site reactions: Redness, swelling, itching.

Weight gain.

Fluid retention.

Vision changes.

Allergic reactions: Rash, itching, hives, swelling.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can affect blood sugar levels and should be consumed in moderation while taking insulin glargine.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Hypoglycemia can impair judgment and alertness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you experience low blood sugar.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of using insulin glargine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.



Children

Insulin glargine is safe and effective for children with diabetes.



Kidney

Kidney problems may affect how your body processes insulin. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage.
