Protomid Tab (Prothionamide) is an anti-tuberculosis medication used to treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis infections. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acids, which are essential components of the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and headache. More serious side effects can occur, such as liver damage, peripheral neuropathy, and psychosis.
