Prolet 250mg Tab (Primidone) is a prodrug that is metabolized in the liver to phenobarbital and phenylethylmalonamide (PEMA). Phenobarbital enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that reduces neuronal excitability, thus suppressing seizures. PEMA also contributes to the anticonvulsant effects, though its precise mechanism is less understood.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused medication after the expiry date.

Dosage is individualized based on the patient's age, weight, seizure type, and response to treatment.

Dosage is typically started low and gradually increased under close medical supervision.

Primidone is usually administered orally, as tablets.
