Planetica 50 Injection (Cisplatin) is a cytotoxic chemotherapy drug. It works by binding to DNA, preventing the cancer cells from replicating and ultimately leading to cell death. The exact mechanism involves the formation of DNA adducts which interfere with DNA replication and transcription, leading to apoptosis (programmed cell death).

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Dispose of unused medication properly according to your healthcare provider's or local pharmacy's instructions.

Dosage and administration are highly individualized and depend on factors such as the type and stage of cancer, patient's overall health, and other medications being taken.

It's administered intravenously (IV) by a healthcare professional.

Never self-administer cisplatin.

Peripheral neuropathy (numbness and tingling in the extremities) (common)

Low blood cell counts (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia) (common)

Nausea and vomiting (very common)

Kidney damage (nephrotoxicity) (common)

Hearing loss (ototoxicity) (common)

Electrolyte imbalances (common)

Fatigue (common)

Mouth sores (mucositis) (common)

Allergic reactions (rare but possible)

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption should be minimized or avoided during treatment with cisplatin due to its potential to exacerbate side effects, especially liver and kidney damage.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Cisplatin can cause fatigue, dizziness, and other side effects that could impair judgment and coordination. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing these symptoms.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Cisplatin is teratogenic (can cause birth defects) and should not be used during pregnancy. Women should use effective contraception during and after treatment. It's also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers as it can pass into breast milk.



Children

Dosage and administration will be significantly different for children and will be determined by a pediatric oncologist.



Kidney

Cisplatin can cause significant kidney damage (nephrotoxicity). Kidney function should be closely monitored during treatment.



Liver

Liver function may also be affected, though usually less severely than kidney function. Regular monitoring is advisable.
