Heparin Sodium

Heparin sodium is a type of medication known as an anticoagulant. It works by preventing blood clots from forming and growing larger.It is derived from porcine (pig) intestinal mucosa, meaning it is obtained from the lining of pig intestines.

Prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)

Prevention of blood clots during and after surgery

Treatment of unstable angina and nonST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)

Treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in combination with other medications

Phlebosol Qps Topial Solution 5ml (Heparin Sodium) works by binding to and activating antithrombin III (ATIII), a protein that inhibits the clotting factors thrombin and factor Xa. This process prevents the formation and growth of blood clots.

Heparin sodium should be stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. It should be discarded after the expiration date printed on the label.

The dosage of heparin sodium is individualized based on the patient's condition, weight, and response to treatment.

It is typically administered intravenously or subcutaneously.

The intravenous route is preferred for rapid anticoagulation, while the subcutaneous route is used for long-term prevention.
