Perirex 0.5mg Tablet (Haloperidol) is an antipsychotic medication that works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behavior, and movement. By blocking dopamine, haloperidol helps to reduce symptoms of psychosis, such as hallucinations and delusions.

Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage is determined by your doctor and depends on the condition being treated and your individual response.

Haloperidol is usually taken by mouth, but it can also be given by injection.

Do not stop taking haloperidol suddenly without talking to your doctor.

Take haloperidol exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) such as muscle stiffness, tremors, and involuntary movements

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) - a rare but serious condition that can be life-threatening

Drowsiness

Dry mouth

Constipation

Blurred vision

Dizziness

Alcohol Consumption

Avoid alcohol while taking haloperidol as it can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Haloperidol can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Haloperidol should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Haloperidol can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking haloperidol while breastfeeding.



Children

Haloperidol is not usually recommended for children unless other medications have not been successful.



Kidney

Haloperidol may need to be used with caution in patients with kidney problems.



Liver

Haloperidol may need to be used with caution in patients with liver problems.
