Pemetrexed

Pemetrexed is the active ingredient in the medication.It is a chemotherapy drug that belongs to a class of medications called antifolates.

Pemetrexed is used to treat certain types of cancer, including:

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

Mesothelioma (cancer of the lining of the lungs and chest)

Pemeta 100 Solution For Infusion (Pemetrexed) works by blocking the growth of cancer cells. It does this by interfering with the production of folic acid, a nutrient that cancer cells need to grow and divide.

Store pemetrexed at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

The dose of pemetrexed will vary depending on your individual needs and the type of cancer you have.

It is usually given as an intravenous (IV) injection over a period of 10 to 30 minutes.

Your doctor will determine the correct dose and frequency of your treatment.

Pemetrexed can cause a variety of side effects, including:

Nausea and vomiting

Diarrhea

Low blood cell counts (including anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia)

Hair loss

Fatigue

Skin rash

Mouth sores

Liver problems

Lung problems (including shortness of breath and pneumonia)

Kidney problems

Alcohol Consumption

It is generally recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking pemetrexed, as it can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Pemetrexed can cause fatigue and other side effects that may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Pemetrexed can harm an unborn baby. It is important to use effective birth control while taking this medication and for at least one month after the last dose. Do not breastfeed while taking pemetrexed.



Children

Pemetrexed is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Pemetrexed can affect kidney function. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function regularly during treatment.



Liver

Pemetrexed can affect liver function. Your doctor will monitor your liver function regularly during treatment.
