Ofloxacin

A fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacteria.

Treatment of bacterial infections complicated by inflammation, such as skin infections (e.g., cellulitis, impetigo), ear infections (e.g., otitis externa), and eye infections (e.g., conjunctivitis) when caused by susceptible bacteria.

Betamethasone reduces inflammation by suppressing the immune system's response. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication and cell division, leading to bacterial cell death.

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Common routes of administration include topical application (creams, ointments, eye drops), oral, or injectable forms (depending on the specific formulation).

Local reactions at the application site (e.g., burning, itching, redness, skin thinning with prolonged topical use)

Systemic side effects (if absorbed systemically) – rare with topical application but possible with oral or injected forms; may include increased blood sugar, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, insomnia, and increased risk of infections.

Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) – more common with oral formulations.

Hypersensitivity reactions (allergic reactions including rash, hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing).
