Olmesartan Medoxomil: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that helps relax blood vessels.
Azelnidipine: A calcium channel blocker that also helps relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure.
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)
Management of essential hypertension (high blood pressure with no identifiable cause)
Olmesartan Medoxomil blocks the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. Azelnidipine blocks calcium from entering the muscle cells of blood vessels, causing them to relax and widen. This combined action leads to lower blood pressure.
Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
Dosage should be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs and health status.
Typically taken once daily, with or without food.
Do not suddenly stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor.
Cough (less common with ARBs compared to ACE inhibitors)
Rare but serious: angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
Dizziness
Headache
Fatigue
Nausea
Lowered blood pressure (hypotension)
Swelling in ankles, feet, or legs
Alcohol can increase the risk of low blood pressure and dizziness. Moderate alcohol consumption should be discussed with your doctor.
May cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
Not recommended during pregnancy. Consult your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking this medication. Use should be avoided during breastfeeding.
Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.
Use with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Dosage adjustment may be necessary.
