Oleanz Rapitab 20mg Tab (Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic that works by blocking the activity of certain natural substances in the brain called dopamine and serotonin. It is believed that these neurotransmitters play a role in controlling mood and behavior. By blocking these neurotransmitters, olanzapine helps to reduce the symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Dosage is determined by your doctor and may vary depending on your individual needs and response to treatment.

Olanzapine is usually taken once a day, with or without food.

It is important to follow your doctor's instructions carefully and take the medication exactly as prescribed.

Do not stop taking olanzapine suddenly without talking to your doctor.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.

Serious side effects can occur, such as metabolic syndrome (a cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes), movement disorders (extrapyramidal symptoms), and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a rare but serious condition that can be life-threatening).

Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, weight gain, constipation, and increased appetite.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol can worsen the side effects of olanzapine, including drowsiness and dizziness. It is important to avoid alcohol while taking this medication.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Olanzapine can cause drowsiness and dizziness, which can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these activities until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Olanzapine is not recommended during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. It is important to discuss your pregnancy plans with your doctor before taking this medication. Olanzapine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of breastfeeding while taking this medication.



Children

Olanzapine is not approved for use in children under the age of 13 years.



Kidney

Olanzapine may be used with caution in patients with kidney problems.



Liver

Olanzapine may be used with caution in patients with liver problems.
