Cefixime

A third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against various bacteria.

Treatment of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia).

Treatment of ear infections (e.g., otitis media).

Treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections.

Cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to bacterial cell death.

Store at a temperature below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused portion after the expiry date.

The dosage should be strictly as prescribed by a doctor. It varies depending on the patient's age, weight, and the severity of the infection.

Usually administered orally, either with or without food.

The suspension should be shaken well before each dose.

Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.

Children

Dosage must be adjusted according to the child's age and weight.



Kidney

Caution is advised in patients with kidney impairment; dosage adjustment might be necessary.
