Obety 120mg Cap (Orlistat) is a lipase inhibitor. It works by preventing the absorption of dietary fats in the gut. Specifically, it blocks the action of pancreatic and gastric lipases, enzymes responsible for breaking down fats into absorbable fatty acids. This leads to a decrease in the amount of fat absorbed from the diet, resulting in weight loss.
Store at room temperature (below 25°C). Protect from moisture.
The usual dose is 120 mg three times daily, with each main meal containing fat.
Orlistat should be taken with or shortly after meals containing fat.
Gastrointestinal effects are common and include oily spotting, fatty/oily stools, fecal urgency, flatulence with discharge, increased bowel movements, abdominal pain, and oily stool.
While there is no direct interaction documented between orlistat and alcohol, excessive alcohol consumption can interfere with weight loss goals.
Orlistat does not typically impair alertness, but patients experiencing side effects such as dizziness or abdominal discomfort should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
