Hydrochloride is the active ingredient.

Treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD)

Treatment of chronic pain conditions (e.g., neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia)

Treatment of enuresis (bedwetting) in children (offlabel use, requires careful monitoring)

Nortrip 50mg Tab (Nortriptyline) is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) that primarily works by blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain. This increased availability of these neurotransmitters helps improve mood, reduce pain perception, and alleviate other symptoms.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be determined by a physician and is individualized based on patient needs and response.

Dosage is typically started low and gradually increased to achieve therapeutic effect.

Medication is usually taken once daily at bedtime.

Never abruptly stop taking nortriptyline. Tapering off under medical supervision is necessary to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure upon standing)

Dry mouth

Constipation

Drowsiness

Dizziness

Blurred vision

Weight gain

Sedation

Anticholinergic effects (e.g., urinary retention)

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol should be avoided or significantly limited while taking nortriptyline as it can increase the risk of drowsiness and other side effects.



Driving or operating Machinery

Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how nortriptyline affects you. Drowsiness and dizziness are common side effects.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Nortriptyline should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Discuss with your doctor.



Children

Nortriptyline is sometimes used off-label for enuresis in children, but requires careful monitoring by a specialist. Not typically for other pediatric conditions.



Kidney

Patients with kidney impairment may require dose adjustments. Renal function should be monitored.



Liver

Patients with liver impairment may require dose adjustments. Hepatic function should be monitored.
