Theophylline is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called xanthine derivatives.It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe.

By blocking phosphodiesterase, theophylline increases the levels of cAMP, which helps to open up the airways and make breathing easier.

Store theophylline at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of theophylline will vary depending on your age, weight, and medical condition.

It is usually taken by mouth, either as a tablet, capsule, or liquid.

Theophylline can also be given intravenously (by injection) in certain cases.

Children
