Canagliflozin

Canagliflozin is the active ingredient.Specific formulations may contain inactive ingredients (excipients) which vary depending on the brand and dosage form. Check the product label for a complete list.

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when metformin alone is inadequate.

In combination with other diabetes medications (e.g., metformin, insulin) to improve glycemic control.

May also be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.

Motivyst 300 Tab (Canagliflozin) is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It works in the kidneys by blocking the reabsorption of glucose into the bloodstream, increasing glucose excretion in the urine, thus lowering blood glucose levels.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Discard unused medication as directed by your pharmacist or healthcare provider.

Dosage should be determined by your physician based on your individual needs and response to treatment.

Common dosages range from 100mg to 300mg once daily, taken orally with or without food.

Do not adjust your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Genital yeast infections (candidiasis)

Dehydration

Increased urination

Hypotension (low blood pressure)

Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels)

Increased risk of fractures.

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol may increase the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Consult your doctor regarding alcohol consumption.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Canagliflozin can cause dizziness or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

The safety of canagliflozin during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not established. Consult your doctor before using canagliflozin if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.



Children

Canagliflozin is not indicated for use in children.



Kidney

Kidney function should be monitored regularly, especially in patients with impaired renal function, as the dosage may need to be adjusted.



Liver

Canagliflozin is primarily excreted by the kidneys, therefore no specific dose adjustments are usually necessary in patients with mild to moderate liver impairment.
