Minoxidil

Minoxidil is the active ingredient in many topical hair loss treatments and some oral formulations for hypertension.Specific formulations may contain additional inactive ingredients like propylene glycol, alcohol, or water (depending on whether it's a topical solution or an oral tablet).

Treatment of androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness) topical formulations only.

Treatment of severe hypertension (high blood pressure) oral formulations only. This is typically used when other treatments have been ineffective.

For hair loss: Minoxidil Tablets Ip 10mg (Minoxidil)'s exact mechanism isn't fully understood, but it's believed to prolong the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle and increase blood flow to the hair follicles. For hypertension: Minoxidil acts as a vasodilator, relaxing blood vessels and reducing peripheral vascular resistance, thus lowering blood pressure.

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Discard topical solutions after the expiration date printed on the label. For oral medications, follow the specific storage instructions provided.

Topical (for hair loss): Apply as directed by your doctor or the product label, usually twice daily to the affected scalp area. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Oral (for hypertension): Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. The dosage will be tailored to your individual needs and will be adjusted gradually.

Topical: Scalp irritation, itching, redness, unwanted hair growth on other parts of the body, dizziness.

Oral: Dizziness, lightheadedness, fluid retention (edema), weight gain, increased heart rate, chest pain, fainting.

Alcohol Consumption

Excessive alcohol consumption may interact with oral minoxidil, increasing the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Minoxidil can cause dizziness and lightheadedness, particularly in the initial stages of treatment. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Minoxidil is generally avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential risks to the fetus or infant. Consult your doctor.



Children

Generally not recommended for use in children unless under the specific guidance of a physician.



Kidney

Caution is advised in patients with kidney impairment as minoxidil can be excreted by the kidneys. Dosage adjustments might be necessary.



Liver

Caution is also advised in patients with liver impairment. Liver function may need monitoring.
