Metformin

A biguanide oral antidiabetic drug that lowers blood glucose levels by decreasing hepatic glucose production, improving insulin sensitivity, and modestly decreasing glucose absorption in the gut.

Miglitol

An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that slows down the breakdown of carbohydrates in the gut, leading to a slower and smaller rise in blood glucose levels after meals.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with metformin monotherapy.

Mignar Mf 25mg Tab (Metformin + Miglitol) work synergistically to control blood sugar. Metformin primarily reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity, while miglitol delays carbohydrate absorption in the gut. This combined action helps to prevent postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose spikes.

Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional and individualized based on the patient's response and overall health.

Typically, the combination is initiated with low doses of both medications and gradually titrated upward as needed to achieve optimal glycemic control.

It's usually taken with the first bite of each main meal.

Lactic acidosis (rare but serious, especially with kidney impairment)

Alcohol Consumption

While Driving or Operating Machinery

Hypoglycemia can impair concentration and reaction time. Avoid driving or operating machinery if experiencing symptoms of hypoglycemia.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult a doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs.



Children

Not typically used in children. Dosage and safety in children have not been adequately established.



Kidney

Caution is necessary in patients with kidney disease; dosage adjustment may be required due to the risk of lactic acidosis.



Liver

Caution should be used in patients with liver disease; monitoring is crucial.
