Minocycline

Minocycline is the active ingredient in this medication.It belongs to a class of antibiotics called tetracyclines.

Treatment of various bacterial infections, including:

Acne vulgaris (severe or resistant to other therapies)

Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis)

Skin infections (e.g., cellulitis, acne)

Genitourinary tract infections (e.g., chlamydia, gonorrhea)

Lyme disease

Rocky Mountain spotted fever

Anthrax (inhalation form)

Mific Inj (Minocycline) works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing bacteria from growing and multiplying.

Store minocycline at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

The dosage of minocycline will vary depending on the type of infection being treated and the patient's age, weight, and overall health.

It is usually taken by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects include:

Serious side effects may occur, such as:

Nausea

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Loss of appetite

Headache

Dizziness

Skin rash

Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight)

Yeast infection (in women)

Liver damage

Kidney problems

Blood disorders

Allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis)

Tooth discoloration (in children)

Increased intracranial pressure (in adults)

Alcohol Consumption

Drinking alcohol while taking minocycline can increase the risk of side effects.



While Driving or Operating Machinery

Minocycline can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Minocycline can harm an unborn baby. It is not recommended for pregnant women. It can also pass into breast milk and may harm a breastfeeding baby. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits before taking minocycline if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.



Children

Minocycline can cause tooth discoloration in children. It should only be used in children if the benefits outweigh the risks.



Kidney

Minocycline can be harmful to the kidneys. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor your kidney function if you have kidney problems.



Liver

Minocycline can be harmful to the liver. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor your liver function if you have liver problems.
