Isotretinoin

Is the active ingredient in medications used to treat severe acne.

Isotretinoin is used to treat severe nodular acne (cystic acne) that has not responded to other treatments, such as antibiotics or topical medications.

It is also sometimes used to treat other skin conditions, such as severe psoriasis or certain types of skin cancer.

It is not used for mild or moderate acne.

Metteclear 5mg Capsule (Isotretinoin) works by reducing the size and activity of oil glands in the skin. This helps to prevent the formation of acne lesions. It also decreases inflammation and reduces the number of bacteria that cause acne.

Store isotretinoin capsules at room temperature, between 68°F and 77°F (20°C and 25°C).

Keep isotretinoin capsules in a tightly sealed container and away from moisture and direct sunlight.

The dosage of isotretinoin varies depending on the severity of the acne and the individual patient.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage for you.

Isotretinoin capsules are typically taken once or twice daily with food.

It is important to take isotretinoin exactly as directed by your doctor.

Do not take more or less than prescribed or stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

Isotretinoin can cause a number of side effects, including:

Dry skin, lips, and nose

Dry eyes

Nosebleeds

Muscle aches and pains

Headache

Dizziness

Mood changes, including depression and anxiety

Increased liver enzymes

Increased cholesterol and triglycerides

Birth defects if taken during pregnancy

Severe skin reactions in rare cases

Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects, especially liver problems. Discuss alcohol consumption with your doctor.



While Driving or operating Machinery

Isotretinoin can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.



Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

Isotretinoin is highly teratogenic, meaning it can cause birth defects if taken during pregnancy. It is absolutely contraindicated in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding women.



Children

Isotretinoin is not approved for use in children.



Kidney

Isotretinoin may affect kidney function. Your doctor will monitor your kidney function during treatment.



Liver

Isotretinoin may affect liver function. Your doctor will monitor your liver function during treatment.
