Meropenem is the active ingredient in this medication.It is a type of antibiotic known as a carbapenem.
Treatment of severe bacterial infections, including:
Pneumonia
Meningitis
Septicemia (blood infection)
Intraabdominal infections
Skin and soft tissue infections

Hospitalacquired infections (HAIs)

Meromac Inj 2gm (Meropenem) works by killing bacteria by interfering with their ability to build cell walls. It targets a specific enzyme (transpeptidase) involved in cell wall synthesis, preventing bacteria from forming a protective barrier and leading to their death.
Store meropenem at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage and frequency of administration vary depending on the severity and type of infection, patient's age, weight, and kidney function.
Meropenem is usually administered intravenously (by injection into a vein).
Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dose and schedule.
Do not stop taking meropenem without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.

Avoid alcohol while taking meropenem, as it can increase the risk of side effects.

Patients with kidney problems may require dose adjustments or close monitoring.
Meropenem is generally safe for patients with liver problems. However, it may be metabolized differently in patients with liver disease, and close monitoring may be necessary.
